Why is it called Coffee Wood Marble?

Because of its colour and its figure together: a coffee-brown base with straight lines running across it, which reads as a wood-grain board. The name is a trade description of the look, not a geological classification.
Three stone sample boards laid side by side on a white surface, labelled in marker pen dark coffee, light coffee and dark grey wood
The three sample boards as they came off the saw, hand-labelled dark coffee, light coffee and dark grey.
Three polished stone pieces laid side by side on a white surface, labelled dark coffee, light coffee and dark grey
The same three boards polished, photographed side by side.

Reference photographs. They show the material and the finish; they are not photographs of goods we made, and the colour on screen is not a colour-match.

The figures, and where each one comes from

The word What it describes
Coffee The base colour, a mid to deep warm brown
Wood The figure, which runs in straight parallel lines
Marble The rock type, calcite-dominant metamorphic stone

Why it behaves the way it does

Half of these names are descriptive and half of them are place names, and a buyer who assumes a name is a specification will get the wrong stone. "Guizhou coffee wood grain marble" is a fuller name than "coffee wood marble" because it carries the province.

What these figures are, and what they are not

The name does not identify a mine, a bed or a quarry. Nothing in it does, and a quote that does not carry a block number cannot be checked against a delivered slab.

If you are specifying this

We have not published products against this question yet. Send us the process, thickness and quantity and we will quote it against what we can actually form, rather than against a catalogue.
