Why is Coffee Wood Marble sometimes sold as a wall panel and sometimes as a slab?

Because the wall decides. A slab is cut on site and can be adjusted to whatever the wall turns out to be; a panel is cut against a drawing and cannot. A simple wall takes a slab and a wall with a matched figure takes a panel.
A finished interior with dark wood-grain stone cladding on the walls, a matching stone floor, dark doors and a black sculpture on a plinth
Wall cladding in a room, the panels running the full height of the wall.
Hands holding a rectangular cut stone sample with a finished edge against the face of a large polished marble slab
The edge of a cut-to-size piece, which is what a wall panel is before it is fixed.

Reference photographs. They show the material and the finish; they are not photographs of goods we made, and the colour on screen is not a colour-match.

The figures, and where each one comes from

The wall Slab Panel
Simple and flat Yes Can also be used
With a book-match Only if the match is planned first Yes
In a tight corner, or over an opening Not practical Yes
If the drawing may change Yes — it can be re-cut No

Why it behaves the way it does

The panel is more expensive because the figure has been matched, numbered and cut in sequence, and that work is wasted if the wall changes afterwards. A client whose elevation is still moving should buy a slab and cut it late.

What these figures are, and what they are not

We supply both. Which one is right is a question about how settled the drawing is, and that is the client's to know.

If you are specifying this

We have not published products against this question yet. Send us the process, thickness and quantity and we will quote it against what we can actually form, rather than against a catalogue.
