Can Coffee Wood Marble be used for a fireplace surround?

Yes, and it is one of the best uses for it: a surround is cut from one slab, book-matched, and it is the largest single piece of the stone a client will ever see. What it must not be is the hearth surface.

Wall cladding in a room, the panels running the full height of the wall.

Reference photographs. They show the material and the finish; they are not photographs of goods we made, and the colour on screen is not a colour-match.

The figures, and where each one comes from

The element What it needs
The surround One slab, book-matched, the figure centred on the opening
The breast The same slab continued upward, or a matching one
The hearth A different, non-combustible material
The soffit and the lintel The same slab, or a matching pair

Why it behaves the way it does

A fireplace is where a figure earns the most, because it is symmetrical and it is centred on something. It is also a warm place, and a warm place is where the difference between a honed and a polished surface shows more than anywhere else in a house.

What these figures are, and what they are not

We supply the stone for the surround and the breast. The hearth, the firebox and the clearances are the design and the code.

If you are specifying this

We have not published products against this question yet. Send us the process, thickness and quantity and we will quote it against what we can actually form, rather than against a catalogue.
