Can I specify Coffee Wood Marble for a curved wall?
Reference photographs. They show the material and the finish; they are not photographs of goods we made, and the colour on screen is not a colour-match.
The figures, and where each one comes from
| The curve | What it needs |
|---|---|
| The panels | Cut to a radius, from one block, in sequence |
| The joints | Vertical, and the figure carried across them |
| The fixing | Anchored to a curved backing frame |
| The choice of block | A block whose figure will read around the curve |
Why it behaves the way it does
A curve is the case where a straight figure either works or does not, because the eye follows the curve and the lines have to be at the right angle to it throughout. It is also the case where the cutting yield is worst, because a curved panel is cut from a rectangle with the offcut on one side.
What these figures are, and what they are not
We cut to a drawing the client has approved, and a curved wall is the drawing that most deserves to be checked on site before the saw.
If you are specifying this
We have not published products against this question yet. Send us the process, thickness and quantity and we will quote it against what we can actually form, rather than against a catalogue.
Yes, and it is one of the harder jobs for this stone, because the panels are cut to a radius and the figure has to stay straight while the face curves away from it. It is done from one block and cut in sequence.
