A waterjet pattern is a drawing that becomes a stone, and the decision is what the drawing asks of the stone. The cut goes all the way through, so the piece needs a thickness the waterjet can hold without chipping the edge — 10 mm and 12 mm are the practical thicknesses for a full cut-through pattern, and 20 mm works for a simpler outline. The pattern has to be made of closed shapes: a waterjet cuts a hole, it does not cut a cantilever, so an open shape has to be supported by the panel it sits in.

The negative space does the work. The stone reads as a solid panel with a pattern taken out of it, and on this material the straight figure behind the cut makes the pattern easier to read than it would be on a mottled stone.
A screen, a partition, a balustrade infill, a shopfront, and a feature wall where the pattern is the point.
A cut edge on this stone shows the bed in section, which is the one place the parallel veins are visible as a cross-section rather than as lines across a face. That is a feature on a screen and something to see before specifying it on a floor.

The specifications on these pages are the published supplier and trade-platform figures for Guizhou Coffee Wood Marble, and the decisions each form carries are our own reading of how this material behaves in that job. We have not run a slip test, an abrasion test or a weathering test on any of them. A floor, a path or an external threshold specified for slip resistance needs the tested wet-DCOF figure for the stone and the finish, which we will supply on request.

Where each photograph was taken is written under it — the quarry yard, the sawing line, the polishing line, the packing bay, or a floor and a wall already laid with this stone.
Send the drawing or spec — we confirm slab allocation, thickness, finish, lead time and FOB pricing from China.
