Pineapple, explained

On this stone Made to order, and the block decides. Ask before you specify it.

How the surface is made

A more aggressive version of the bush-hammered finish, with deeper and more irregular pitting, the skin of a pineapple.

What it does to the stone

A coarse, deeply pitted texture with strong shadowing between the pits.

Where it is the right answer

Heavy-traffic outdoor areas, public spaces and exterior wall cladding where the strongest grip is wanted.

On Coffee Wood Marble

The deepest of the hammer finishes and the most destructive to the face. On a marble of this density it is at the edge of what the stone will take, and the result is lighter and rougher than the slab a buyer has seen. Quote it only against a specific block.

The processes above are the trade's descriptions of these finishes. Whether a finish suits this stone is our reading of how a calcite marble behaves under it — we have not run a slip or abrasion test on any of these surfaces, and a floor specification needs the tested wet-DCOF figure for the stone and the finish, which we will supply on request.
