How long does a Coffee Wood Marble floor last?

A long time, if the finish is maintained. The stone is Mohs 3 and it will scratch, but the stone itself does not wear out in a building's life — the polish does. In a hotel corridor the polish is normally restored rather than the floor replaced.
Rows of polished grey-brown marble slabs with straight wood-like grain laid flat on trestles across a large workshop floor, the surfaces wet and reflecting overhead lights
Slabs on the polishing line, which is where the finish that wears first is put on.

Reference photographs. They show the material and the finish; they are not photographs of goods we made, and the colour on screen is not a colour-match.

The figures, and where each one comes from

What ages What is done about it
The polish on a busy floor Professional honing and re-polishing, usually every few years in a commercial building
Scratches in the surface Polished out if shallow; a deeper one is a repair
Etching in a wet area Repolished, or accepted as a patina
The stone itself Not what limits the life of the floor

Why it behaves the way it does

A wood-grain marble is chosen for places that look after it — a corridor that is swept, a lobby that is cleaned — and in those places the stone outlives the finish several times over. The number to plan for is the restoration interval, not the replacement interval.

What these figures are, and what they are not

We publish no service-life figure for a floor we have not installed. What we can say is which parts of the finish are consumable and which are not.

If you are specifying this

We have not published products against this question yet. Send us the process, thickness and quantity and we will quote it against what we can actually form, rather than against a catalogue.
